Whoever claims to always be in a state of joy is lying. Have you ever met someone who just seems to radiate positivity and joy 24/7? Is it your goal to become like them? Just don’t!
These folks are nothing but liars, that’s for sure! You can’t possibly believe that perpetual optimism is even somewhat attainable for human beings.
There are just some occasions when life just stinks. It knocks you down, and you can’t just smile and be happy about it. It’s natural to experience a range of different feelings, including anger, irritation, and melancholy. Why, therefore, do some people feel the need to always fake happiness?
For the most part, the outside world doesn’t want to observe bad emotions like rage, grief, irritation, etc., because modern society in a way socially obliges us to believe that in life just good feeling are acceptable. And that other emotions are harmful to us
I personally believe that the only negative thing about these emotions is suppressing them. By doing so, we end up ignoring a part of ourselves that really needs to be heard.
When we learn to let go of our attachment to trying to control our emotions, I trust we can reap some surprising benefits. While it’s important to recognize their existence, it’s also important to remember that they don’t determine who we are. We are not our feelings; feelings simply pass through us.
That’s exactly what we’re meant to do: let them out, watch them objectively, and then use them constructively. Instead, because society has stigmatized these feelings, we tend to become prisoners to them when we reach a point where we can no longer conceal them.
The greatest way to cope with negative feelings is to use them as fuel to push ourselves to become our best selves. Are you depressed because your partner recently broke up with you? Get in shape and shine like a star. Are you sad because you were fired for no reason? Use this window of opportunity to launch a brand-new enterprise, etc. Keep in mind that life is a roller coaster, and while it may go up and down at any moment, you must enjoy the ride all along.
